Mariners News

The Mariners are kicking off a seven-game California road trip against the Los Angeles Angels tonight. Logan Evans will make the start as the M’s play the first of their four-game series in Anaheim.

They’re coming off a series loss to the Milwaukee Brewers where their offense struggled, combining for just three runs across three games. It came against a Brewers team that’s hit its stride, winning 12 of their last 13 games while taking hold of the best record in the major league.

It hasn’t been as easy for the Angels recently, who are coming off a series sweep at the hands of the New York Mets. LA has fallen to five games behind Seattle in the AL West standings, while the M’s sit six games back from the first-place Houston Astros.

Coverage for tonight’s series-opener begins at 5:30 and first pitch is at 6:38 on KPUG.

Bells News

The Bells are playing the Lefties tonight for their rubber match in Port Angeles. The Lefties beat the Bells 13-6 last night to tie the series up.

It was a 4-4 ball game heading into the bottom of the sixth, but Port Angeles scored nine runs across the next three innings to run away with the game. Noah Cassie hit his first home run of the season for Bellingham, but it wasn’t enough to extend their three-game win streak. The usually steady All-Star Devyn Hernandez struggled, giving up three earned runs through three innings in the start.

The Bells will have a chance to pick up their third-straight series win tonight. First pitch is at 6:35.

Meanwhile, the Zone will be live from Joe Martin Field tomorrow for the Bells’ return home. It’s an early 4:35 first pitch.

Storm News

The Storm are back tonight for a road match against the Chicago Sky.

Seattle’s coming off a 24-point loss to the Dallas Wings and have lost three of its last five games. But the Storm are still tied for the fourth-best record in the league, while the Sky own the third-worst.

Tonight’s game tips off at 5:30.

Seahawks News

The Seahawks could be without a key piece on defense to start the season. Coach Mike Macdonald told reporters yesterday that veteran edge rusher Uchenna Nwosu “isn’t necessarily close” to returning.

Nwosu was placed on the physically unable to perform list last week as he continues to recover from offseason knee surgery. He can be activated from the PUP list at any time during training camp and preseason, though GM John Schneider has hinted at the possibility of Nwosu opening the season on the list.

Nwosu racked up a career-high 9.5 sacks during his first season with the Seahawks in 2022, but has since struggled to stay healthy, missing a combined 22 games over the past two seasons.
