ANACORTES, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A ferry crew rescued a pilot after crashing off the coast of Anacortes on Monday.
Skagit County Commissioner’s Communications Manager Jenn Rogers told My Bellingham Now that the crash happened right around noon.
The Guemes Ferry crew had just arrived at their breakroom for a lunch break when they spotted the plane going down in the channel. The plane had gone down just west of the ferry’s usual route according to Rogers.
After calling 911, the crew took the vessel out to the site of the crash and rescued the pilot.
Anacortes police, fire and EMS were waiting at the terminal upon their return to help the pilot.
The man did not seem to have any injuries, despite being cold and wet.
