WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Whatcom County Health and Community Services says that levels of paralytic shellfish poisoning levels have receded in the waters north of Sandy Point.

The latest test results are prompting officials to reopen beaches from Sandy Point north, including all of Point Roberts.

Health officials had closed those beaches in early September after high levels of PSP were discovered during routine testing.

Harvesters are encouraged to check state closure maps before they head out to dig up clams, oysters, mollusks, or scallops.
