BLAINE, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A Canadian woman is facing federal charges after prosecutors say she illegally crossed the border in Blaine and kicked a border patrol agent in the face.
The FBI alleges in court documents that Lindsay Moffatt was denied while trying to cross the Peach Arch Port of Entry on Tuesday, Dec. 30, because she had a marijuana vape pen.
Later that night, border agents found Moffatt attempting to cross into the United States through Peace Arch State Park. Border Patrol agents warned Moffatt to stop, but she responded by yelling obscenities and insults at them in a manner that agents described as “hysterical.”
Several agents eventually handcuffed her despite her resistance. When they tried to bring her to a patrol car, she began rolling around on the ground and kicked a supervisor in the face.
Moffatt later told investigators that she tried to cross into the US to meet her fiancé at the park and retrieve their dog, who they split time with. She denied kicking the agent intentionally, but admitted that she saw the agents’ uniforms and may have kicked someone.
Moffatt is charged with assault on a federal officer and improper entry into the US.
The case is still pending in federal court.
