BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A contentious proposed development in south Bellingham will be the center of a public hearing later this week.

The Bellingham Hearing Examiner will be hearing from the public on Wednesday, Jan. 14 on the proposed Woods at Viewcrest development in the Edgemoor neighborhood.

My Bellingham Now previously reported the development was at the center of a fight between a local activist group and the developers last year.

The group, called Protect Mud Bay Cliffs, sought to prevent the construction on the grounds it would negatively impact the adjacent waters and cliffs, dubbed “Mud Bay.”

The Woods at Viewcrest would subdivide the land into 38 detached, single-family lots as well as three open space tracts.

The first public hearing will take place in City Hall at 5 p.m. on Wednesday with plans to hold a second one should they need the time on Thursday in the same building.

Those looking to comment on the permits associated with the development can either attend in person or via Zoom.
