WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Residents in part of Whatcom County can now breathe a breath of fresh air.
The Northwest Clean Air Agency canceled the Stage 2 air quality burn ban for the Columbia Valley on Wednesday, Jan. 28.
The area near Kendall includes the Peaceful Valley and Paradise Lakes developments.
Colder temperatures and calm winds mean smoke particles can accumulate and remain in the air during winter months. Those smoke particles can cause respiratory issues and can harm children and older adults.
Air quality has improved, but NWCAA is still asking residents to limit indoor burning to help avoid another ban in the future.
