WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A full closure of the Mount Baker Highway is on the horizon.

WSDOT says that both directions of the road will close east of Glacier for five full days starting on Monday, Feb. 2.

Crews will be replacing a culvert that was badly damaged during last month’s historic flooding. That includes taking apart and rebuilding the roadbed that covers the culvert, which requires a full five-day closure.

Major work in the area is expected to wrap up by Feb. 6.

Alternating traffic patterns will resume once the road fully reopens for streambed work.
