The Port of Bellingham Commissioners voted to approve a 30-day closure of Bellingham International Airport, scheduled to take place in the summer of 2027.
During that time, crews will work to reconstruct three taxiways and install blast pads on the runways.
Airport officials believe that closing the runway will result in a net loss of $385,000, with the project itself estimated to cost about $13 million.
