WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Don’t let the cold weather get you down. There is so much to do this weekend in Whatcom County and we have you covered in this week’s Lifestyle Lookout.

Conditions at the Mount Baker Ski Area are epic with the colder weather recently moving into our area. There is currently a snow base of 85 inches at Heather Meadows with 125 inches at the top of Pan Dome. It is quite cold on the mountain, so layer up and plan on popping into one of the lodges for some food and a hot beverage while you are there.

If you are a first timer, the ski area offers rentals and lessons. You can also rent your gear in Bellingham at Backcountry Essentials or Yeager’s Sporting Goods or stop by the Glacier Ski Shop on the way up the mountain.

If you want to have your cake and eat it too, you are in luck. Layered: Where Cake, Community and Giving Meet is at The Majestic Ballroom (1027 N. Forest St.) in Bellingham on Friday, Feb. 20.

The event combines the joy of tasting cake with an opportunity to support the Whatcom Center for Early Learning (WCEL). Attendees will get a four-piece cake flight, a raffle ticket and a chance to win tickets to WCEL’s upcoming Gala.

If you are looking to stretch out your vocal cords, look no further than the Mount Baker Theatre. Wicked: The Sing-Along is on Saturday, Feb. 21 at 7 p.m.

Wicked is the untold story of the witches from the Wizard of Oz. Dress up in Oz-inspired attire and sing along to iconic songs like “The Wizard and I,” “Popular,” and “Defying Gravity.”

First up, Yellow Peddled Flowers will bring their brand of psych rock to the Blue Room in Bellingham on Friday night. The band from Snohomish is known for their fusion of experimental rock, ambient vibes and head-banging beats.

Next up, Dry Martini: A Duke Ellington Tribute runs from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Saturday at The Firehouse Arts and Events Center (1314 Harris Ave.) in Fairhaven.
