BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Scammers are making the rounds again, but this time they’re targeting area drivers.

The City of Bellingham says that they’ve seen an increase in fake QR codes being placed near paid parking spots downtown.

While the city does take parking payments through verified apps, they’re reminding drivers that they never accept fees paid through a QR code.

Anyone who sees a suspicious QR code posted near a parking meter or payment kiosk is asked to report it to the city.
