BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – An active incident on I-5 blocked all lanes in both directions near the Sunset Dr. exit this afternoon.

A traffic back up impacted the freeway in both directions, notably northbound all the way to Samish Way and southbound to the Northwest Ave exit.

Bellingham Police also closed the Sunset Dr bridge over the freeway in both directions at around 2 p.m. Friday, recommending that drivers exit before the closure in both directions (Northbound at Iowa St, Southbound at the Guide Meridian).

The bridge was reopened just before 3 p.m. Friday.
