WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Whatcom County residents have one last chance to buy long-term bus passes before major fare changes take effect this fall.
Whatcom Transportation Authority (WTA) said Friday, May 15 is the final day to buy 92-day passes.
The $90 pass gives riders unlimited rides for about three months.
WTA’s 31-day passes will also be phased out later this summer. The agency is replacing both passes with a fare capping system starting Sept. 1.
Under the pay-per-trip model, riders will automatically stop paying once they reach $6 a day or $60 a month.
At the same time, fixed route bus fares will double from $1 to $2 in WTA’s first fare increase since 2008.
