WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Whatcom County’s biggest event of the year needs your help.
The countdown is on for Ski to Sea, which takes place this Sunday, May 24.
But Race Director Aurielle Buermann said they still need dozens of volunteers to help with race-day operations.
“We rely on an army of volunteers to bring this race together,” Buermann told My Bellingham Now on Tuesday, May 19. “We’re about 50 to 70 short right now. It’s a great way to get involved, see it from behind the scenes and support this event, because it just wouldn’t happen without volunteers showing up to make it happen.”
Ski to Sea features 500 teams but also requires over 500 volunteers to oversee each leg of the race among other duties.
Volunteers will each receive a lunch and t-shirt and can attend a volunteer appreciation party next month.
You can learn more and sign up on Ski to Sea’s website.
KGMI will be broadcasting the start of the race at 7 a.m. Sunday at Mount Baker and the finish around 1 p.m. at Marine Park.
