Ski to Sea crowned a new winner on Sunday for the first time since 2022.
The Pacific North Sports team won in a neck and neck race, coming in first after overtaking Marr’s Heating in the kayak leg of the race. Pacific North’s kayaker Ian Sawyer rang the bell just 30 seconds before Marr’s.
Boomer’s Drive-in came in third nearly eight minutes after Marr’s. Nelson’s Market, which featured Olympiad kayaker Jonas Ecker, came in fourth and Yeager’s Sporting Goods rounded out the top five.
A total of 361 teams completed the race, which had some changes from previous years. The cross-country ski route was shortened on account of a lack of snow according to organizers, leading to an average 10-minute increase in speed for the top two teams.
Mariners News
The Mariners are back tonight as they continue their battle for the division lead.
The M’s have a chance to clinch their series against the first-place A’s in Game 2 in Sacramento. They’re coming off a dominant 9-2 win last night in the series opener.
Luke Raley hit his team-leading 11th home run of the season and JP Crawford, Randy Arozarena and Dominic Canzone all added blasts to highlight the win. Luis Castillo backed them with four scoreless innings before Bryce Miller took over with five innings of two-run ball in the second occurrence of what the team has called their “piggyback” strategy to roll out both starters in one game.
Seattle now sits a game and a half behind the Athletics for first place in the American League West division. They can take the lead if they finish their series with a pair of wins, starting tonight with Emerson Hancock on the mound.

Seahawks News
The Seahawks reunited today for the first time since their Super Bowl win.
Today was the first day of Organized Team Activities, or OTAs. There are scheduled to be six over the next two weeks, including no-contact drills where the offense and defense will go against each other for the first time this offseason.
The Seahawks will also have a three-day mandatory minicamp in June before returning for the beginning of training camp in late July.
Sounders News
It was a rough outing for the Sounders on Sunday.
Timothy Tillman scored in the 86th minute, his first goal in more than two years, and LAFC beat Seattle 1-0 in the final MLS match before the World Cup break. Andrew Thomas had two saves for the Sounders, who have now lost back-to-back games for the first time this season.
On the bright side, Seattle midfielder Cristian Roldan was announced today as one of 26 selections to the US World Cup team.
Storm News
The Storm picked up a big win at home over the weekend.
They beat the Washington Mystics 97-85 to improve to 3-4 on the season. Veteran guard Natisha Hiedeman led the way with 24 points as the Storm rained it in from three, hitting nearly half of their 28 attempts.
Seattle’s Awa Fam, the No. 3 overall draft pick, made her WNBA debut and finished with 10 points in 20 minutes.
Next up, the Storm are hosting the Mystics once again tomorrow night.
NBA News
Elsewhere in the world of basketball, the New York Knicks are heading to their first NBA Finals in more than a quarter century.
The Knicks topped the Cavaliers 130-93 last night to sweep the Eastern Conference Finals and move on to the championship for the first time since 1999.
There, they’ll play the winner of the Thunder and Spurs Western Conference Finals, which is hitting a critical Game 5 in OKC tonight with the series tied at two games apiece.

Several Whatcom County schools brought home hardware in the state tennis tournament over the weekend.
The Lynden girls and Sehome boys each won 2A team titles at state. Lions senior Halley Brooks also won the singles championship, while her fellow seniors Avery Brooks and Rilanna Newcomb won the doubles title.
Meanwhile, Bellingham junior Leo Kuhn won the singles state championship for the Bayhawks’ first in school history.
The baseball and fastpitch softball seasons have also both come to a close.
Lynden’s baseball team lost in the opening round of the tournament, while Sehome and Lynden Christian each fell in the quarterfinals.
Lynden’s softball team tied for fifth after falling to Mark Morris in the semifinals.
The boys soccer playoffs are still running, with three Whatcom County teams still standing.
Squalicum and Sehome each won their matchups on Saturday to advance to the 2A semifinals.There, the 2nd-seeded Storm will face 3rd-seeded Columbia River and the 12th-seeded Mariners will look to knock off top-seeded Bainbridge, with both matches being played in Federal Way on Friday.
Lynden had its season ended by Columbia River in the quarterfinals.
Over in the 1A tournament, Meridian continued its Cinderella run by blanking Cashmere 4-0. The 12th-seeded Trojans have already knocked off the 4th and 5th seeds in the tournament as they now play a fellow upstart in 16th-seeded Wahluke in the semifinals on Friday, also in Federal Way.
