WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Smoother rides are on the horizon for some stretches of Whatcom County roads.
WSDOT began repaving parts of Hwy 9 and SR 547 earlier Monday, June 15.
Repaving on Hwy 9 includes a stretch of road near the Skagit County line, Nugent’s Corner to Nooksack and E Badger Road to Bowen Road.
Additional repaving on SR 547 will be done between Hillview Road and Victoria Street east of Sumas.
WSDOT notes that some of these roads haven’t been paved since 1998.
Crews will be working from Sundays through Thursdays from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. through late August.
The fish passage project work on southbound I-5 south of Bellingham is also beginning Monday, June 15 at 8 p.m., resulting in a lane shift onto the two-lane bypass road near Chuckanut Creek. Rolling slowdowns are expected until the shift is completed at 5 a.m. Tuesday, June 16.
