BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Drivers near Bellingham’s King Mountain neighborhood will see delays for another few weeks.

The City of Bellingham announced that the full closure of James Street between E Bakerview Road and E Kellogg Road has been extended through July 10.

The stretch of road was originally slated to reopen by next week while crews build a retaining wall for a new multi-use trail.

But the city said crews have encountered some unexpected challenges, including repaving delays in addition to utility and tree-related complications.

Along with the new multi-use path, the project will also add sidewalks and bike lanes to James Street just north of Kellogg Road.
