Hearing scheduled for appeal to new Edgemoor subdivision

Protect Mud Bay Cliffs filed the appeal in June after an Environmental Impact Statement for the new residential area was denied.

BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Bellingham City Council has announced a special meeting to discuss a subdivision variance in south Bellingham.

It comes after the local group Protect Mud Bay Cliffs (PMBC) filed an appeal to the council on June 18, outlining the dangers of building the new Woods at Viewcrest subdivision in the area.

The subdivision had formerly been approved for a consolidated permit after Bellingham’s Hearing Examiner announced that an Environmental Impact Statement would not be required to move forward.

PMBC then filed the appeal, citing erosion hazards, landslide activity and ecological fragility.

The hearing for the appeal is scheduled for Monday, Aug. 10, with a final written decision from the council to be issued at a later date.
