WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A Birch Bay man has pleaded not guilty to allegedly shooting and wounding two people last week, including a 2-year-old child.
Court documents state 62-year-old Anthony Palomba pleaded not guilty to two counts of attempted murder, felony harassment and second-degree assault during his arraignment on Aug. 11.
Palomba was arrested on Aug. 10 after police say he shot two people following an argument at a home in Birch Bay.
According to court documents, the victim was hit in their upper hip near their torso and their child suffered a glancing wound on their inner-knee, both non-life-threatening injuries.
Palomba later told hospital staff that he was “very, very intoxicated.”
Investigators found a pistol, used ammunition casings and at least one bullet that had been fired into the home, along with another loaded pistol in Palomba’s vehicle.
Palomba remains at the Whatcom County Jail without bail.
He’s expected back in court for a status hearing on Sept. 9 and his jury trial has been tentatively scheduled to begin on Oct. 5.
