BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A man is in custody after making threats to harm people at a local college.

Bellingham Police Lt. Claudia Murphy says that officers were alerted to the threats by an out-of-state caller early Thursday, Aug. 27.

The person said they were in a chatroom with the suspect, identified as a 26-year-old Bellingham man, who became upset over something that was said during the conversation.

He began making comments about shooting people, then specified he wanted to target people at Whatcom Community College.

Police conducted an aerial search of campus, but didn’t locate the suspect. He was later found and taken into custody on F Street.

Murphy says that WCC is aware of the threats and is working to restrict the suspect’s access to campus.
