The Seahawks are flying high after getting a big road win yesterday.

They beat Arizona 31-7 for their tenth-straight win over the Cardinals and their 12th straight overall.

Jaxon Smith-Njigba had 155 yards and three touchdowns to help the Hawks pull away from a halftime tie. Drew Lock threw for 235 yards and three touchdowns in his first start in nearly two years.

Seattle is now one of nine teams to own an undefeated record.

Week 2 of the NFL season caps off tonight when their rival Los Angeles Rams host the New York Giants on Monday Night Football. Kickoff is at 5:15 on KPUG.

Huskies/Cougars News

The Huskies had an impressive win too.

They blew out Eastern Washington 48-16 on Saturday to improve to 3-0. Demond Williams Jr. threw for 373 yards and four touchdowns and former Lynden Christian standout Kade Eldridge caught two passes for 24 yards in the win.

Former Anacortes standout receiver Rylin Lang caught three passes for 56 yards for the Eagles.

It was the Huskies’ final non-conference game of the season, as they’re set to enter Big Ten play against Minnesota on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the Cougs beat Duquesne 48-7 to pick up their first win of the year.

 

Speaking of the Huskies, one of their former stars is making his season debut in primetime this week.

The Atlanta Falcons announced today that Michael Penix Jr. will start Thursday night on the road against the Green Bay Packers.

Thursday will be his first start since Week 11 last November when he tore his left ACL. It was his third ACL surgery after having two on his right knee in college.

Penix finished second in Heisman voting at UW in 2023 while leading the Huskies to the national championship game.

Mariners News

The Mariners had a solid final road series of the season.

They took two out of three against the Rockies in Denver. Rookie Kade Anderson capped it off last night with his best outing of the season, tossing seven innings of shutout ball with seven strikeouts.

The M’s still sit five games behind the Rangers for first place in the AL West with just six games to go. They’re kicking off their final homestand of the season tomorrow night when they host the Astros for the first of a brief two-game series.
