OLYMPIA, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A federal lawsuit targeting Washington voter information has been dismissed.

Washington’s Attorney General Nick Brown said that the ruling was issued in the U.S. District Court for Western Washington Tuesday, Sept. 22.

The U.S. Dept of Justice filed the lawsuit against Brown and Washington Secretary of State Steve Hobbs in September 2025 after they refused to provide voter registration data to the federal government.

State officials and the presiding judge all agreed that the demand for voter information was a violation of both state and federal law.

So far, none of the DOJ’s cases targeting private voter information have been successful.
