MOUNT VERNON, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Drivers licensing services are back in Skagit County’s largest city.

The Washington State Department of Licensing (DOL) announced that their Mount Vernon office reopened on Nov. 3 for walk-ins only.

The DOL says they will make appointments available after a few weeks.

The department closed their Mount Vernon office on 3rd Street in mid-August due to ongoing staffing issues. The closure lasted roughly two and a half months while they trained new employees to fill several empty positions.

The department says there should be better staffing at the office now, with more consistent hours.

The DOL is also hosting a mobile licensing event at the Library Commons in Mount Vernon from noon to 5 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 12, to help with any driver licensing and ID needs.

A similar event is taking place at the public library in Burlington from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 13.
