FERNDALE, Wash.- Repair work on a breached Nooksack River levee continues.

Whatcom County asked the Army Corps of Engineers to assist in repairing the levee near Slater Road.

Experts believe a combination of heavy rain, snow melt, king tides and ice jams overwhelmed the section of levee last week.

Crews began placing rock armor along the 200 ft. damaged section on Saturday.

The Corps says about 30% of the work was done as of Monday night.
