BELLINGHAM, Wash. – A Whatcom County man has pleaded guilty in the shooting of a man he claimed had raped his wife.

Court records state that Martin Siergiey admitted to confronting the victim outside a home in Blaine in 2021 and firing numerous shots at the man as he fled.

One gunshot hit the victim in the upper leg while other rounds penetrated the home he was staying in.

The victim later told police that he had a consensual sexual encounter with a woman several months before the shooting.

She turned out to have been married to Siergiey at the time.
