BELLINGHAM, Wash. – A jury has found a British Columbia man guilty of child rape and other charges for assaulting his granddaughter in Whatcom County in 2019.

Court documents state 69-year-old Randolph McIntyre was staying with the family in their trailer at Maple Falls when he assaulted the child, who was under the age of 10 at the time.

The victim’s mother did not report the assault until 2021 when she felt the child was able to handle the stress of an investigation.

The pandemic was among issues that delayed a trial, but the jury returned guilty verdicts on two charges each of child rape and incest last Thursday, February 2nd.

Sentencing has been set for March 9th in Whatcom Superior Court.
