BELLINGHAM, Wash. – A man is in custody after allegedly attempting to kidnap a child from a Bellingham store.
Bellingham Police said that a man wearing all black attempted to pick up the 3-year-old while their mother was checking out at a store on Alabama St on Saturday, March 25th.
The mother was able to pull her child away from the suspect.
A witness physically put themselves between the suspect and victims after the suspect refused to leave the store.
An employee, armed with a bat, eventually got the suspect out of the building.
Police later arrested 38-year-old Kier Gardner.
He remains at the Whatcom County Jail on $150,000 bail.
