OLYMPIA, Wash. – The Washington State Department of Ecology issued a statewide drought advisory on Wednesday, July 5th.
They say the warmest May we have had on record paired with an unusually dry spring and early summer has caused water supplies to quickly decline.
Irrigators for both the Skagit and Yakima Basins are facing challenges due to the lack of water, the department said.
The advisory is meant to give an early warning of a possible drought, especially to residents in abnormally dry conditions.
But utility companies in larger cities including Tacoma, Seattle and Everett report having plenty of water for their customers.
