BELLINGHAM, Wash. – A teen was struck and killed by a train in Bellingham Tuesday evening.

BNSF Railway says she was struck on an Eldridge Ave train trestle at about 5:30 p.m.

Bellingham Police say paramedics attempted life-saving measures, but the girl was pronounced dead at the scene.

She’s been identified as 15-year-old Lucy Guerra, a Bellingham High School freshman.

Investigators say that her death was likely a “tragic accident.”

They say the section of trestle that the teen was on has a slight curve, and that she may not have heard the train approaching.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to cover her funeral expenses.
