BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Turns out the algae found in Lake Padden recently is not toxic.

The Whatcom County Department of Health and Community Services issued a warning last week over potentially toxic algae in the Bellingham lake and nearby Padden Creek.

They advised people and pets to avoid contact with the water.

But on Tuesday, March 7th, the City of Bellingham reported that results of tests on the algae came back and no toxins were found.
