BELLINGHAM, Wash. – The Bellingham City Council is hosting a public hearing at 7 p.m. on Monday, July 10th, to discuss a proposed fifth greenways levy.

The Council is seeking feedback about the levy to continue the acquisition, development and maintenance of recreation projects around the city.

The proposed levy would call for a rate of $0.41 per $1,000 of assessed property value to continue funding the Greenways program through 2033.

Past Greenways levies have funded access to 2,100 acres of multi-use trails and acquisitions of areas like Padden Gorge, Northridge Park and Woodstock Farm.

The last Greenways levy was approved in 2016.

If approved by the Council, the measure would be put on the general election ballot in November.

Community members can attend in person at the Council Chambers or stream the meeting live via the City’s website.
