BELLINGHAM, WA – Amtrak’s first-ever electric bus is part of their daily Cascades route from Bellingham through Seattle.
WSDOT and Amtrak unveiled the new bus Wednesday as it departed on its first trip.

Representatives from both agencies joined Mayor Seth Fleetwood and Port Commission President Michael Shepard at Fairhaven Station to address the milestone.
During his speech, Mayor Fleetwood emphasized Bellingham’s seminal role in the state’s transition to clean energy.
Port President Shepard doubled down on the mayor’s comments, mentioning an EV bus manufacturer in Ferndale as a future partner.
Both officials toured the first electric bus in service by Amtrak before it left for Seattle with passengers aboard.
The EV can make the nearly 200-mile roundtrip on one single charge.
