BELLINGHAM, Wash. – A man who police say shot himself rather than face arrest last week has died.

The Bellingham Police Department says 40-year-old Collin Brandt of Bellingham was the man being sought for 1st degree robbery, theft of a firearm and other felonies.

Officers from the sheriff’s department and Bellingham Police chased him from Whatcom Falls Park to the side of I-5 in Fairhaven on Thursday evening, March 2nd.

They say he shot himself as officers, including a K-9 unit, moved in to arrest him.

He was taken to the hospital in critical condition but has since died.
