BELLINGHAM, Wash. – A Bellingham woman acquitted in the murders of her husband and son has been released from supervision.

A Whatcom County Superior Court Judge ruled earlier this month that 51-year-old Erin Lee Jordan has progressed significantly with her treatment at Western State Hospital.

Jordan was accused of fatally shooting her husband, Lummi Nation School teacher Michael Jordan, and their one-year-old child, Miles, in July of 2015.

She was acquitted on reason of insanity later that year and was committed to Western State Hospital indefinitely.

Court documents state that she had been granted a conditional release from the hospital in 2021 as her mental health symptoms improved.

Prosecutors argued that Jordan has been maintaining an independent lifestyle while still following her treatment plan since her release.

And she completed a program through the University of Washington in Entrepreneurial Leadership and wrote that she plans to pursue a master’s degree in English.

Jordan, who now lives in Pierce County, will no longer require DSHS supervision as a result of her unconditional release.
