BELLINGHAM, Wash. – A Bellingham Police detective assigned to a recent school scandal is now at the center of two separate investigations.

Bellingham Deputy Chief Don Almer said that Special Victims Unit Detective Adam “Bo” McGinty has been named in an administrative investigation with Bellingham Police.

He is also the subject of a criminal investigation with Mount Vernon Police.

McGinty was the lead detective assigned to investigate the case of a former Squalicum High School student who says their sexual assault reports were not taken seriously by administrators.

Three administrative officials have been accused of failing to report the assaults, per state law.

Details of the investigations have not been released, as they remain active at this time.

He has since been removed from handling the Bellingham administrators’ case.
