HAMILTON, Wash. – A fatal car crash in Skagit County claimed the life of a local school superintendent.
The Washington State Patrol said that the accident occurred late Saturday night, April 29th, on Highway 20 in the town of Hamilton.
The driver, 64-year-old Wayne Barrett, was heading east when his car crossed the center line and hit a tree.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Barrett had worked as the superintendent for the Concrete School District since 2017.
The district confirmed his death in a letter sent out to parents on Sunday.
District officials are encouraging people to reach out to them if they need any support or additional resources.
