BELLINGHAM, WA – (KGMI.com) A pair of state transportation workers helped make a Christmas miracle happen earlier this week.
WSDOT says two of their crew members in Leavenworth found a big green plastic bag on the side of the road on Christmas Eve.
They assumed it was garbage but were surprised when they opened it up to find it full of wrapped and tagged Christmas gifts.
The two workers went to a local Leavenworth Facebook group to see if anyone knew something about their discovery.
It turned out that a man had lost the bag of gifts in the back of his truck while delivering them to his grandchildren for Christmas.
A night shift worker for WSDOT finally reunited the man with his gifts on the summit of Stevens Pass around 1 a.m. on Christmas Day.
The worker who made the final handoff said, “it felt like something out of a Hallmark movie.”
