ANACORTES, Wash. – The City of Anacortes has passed a new law to address an issue with RVs on its streets, and Bellingham may soon follow.
GoSkagit reports that last week the Anacortes City Council unanimously voted to change the limit of how long RV’s can be parked on city streets from 72 to 24 hours.
The new code also raises the fines for such infractions to $20 for staying beyond the limit, and an extra $10 added to any additional violations within the year.
The Herald reports Mayor Seth Fleetwood introduced similar changes at Bellingham’s City Council meeting on Monday, July 24th.
Fleetwood suggested outlawing RV parking near schools and children’s organizations while also issuing a request for proposals to find a place where RVs can safely park with organized supervision.
