BELLINGHAM, WA. – (KGMI.com) The Whatcom County Council will hold a public hearing and vote on a temporary suspension of development for heavy industrial land at their meeting on Tuesday, October 24th.
If approved, the moratorium would halt the County’s acceptance and processing of applications and permits for new uses within designated Urban Growth Areas for a year.
The vote comes as several neighborhoods in the community are pushing back against a proposed metal shredding facility that would be built just off Marine Drive.
Tuesday’s meeting takes place at 6 p.m.
Those who want to comment during the public hearing section can do so in person or virtually via Zoom.
