NORTH CASCADES, Wash. – It is another sign spring is just around the corner.

Crews will begin clearing the North Cascades Highway on Monday, March 27h.

WSDOT says snow is up to 80 inches deep on the section of Highway 20 over the Cascades that is closed every winter.

Clearing operations usually take six to eight weeks as crews work from both the east and west sides of the closure.

Snowmobiling and other recreation on the road will be closed during the week while crews work.

It will be allowed on weekends, but adventurers are urged to check for avalanche danger.
