BELLINGHAM, Wash. – The Whatcom County Council is looking for community members to compose pro and con arguments for the jail and justice proposal on the November ballot.
The ballot proposition would establish a 0.2% sales tax increase to pay for a new county jail, substance abuse and behavioral health treatment, and other criminal justice services and facilities.
The council will appoint two or three people to each committee to produce pro and con statements for the voter’s pamphlet.
Volunteers for the committees are asked to call the County Council Office at (360) 778-5010 by 4:30 p.m. on Monday, July 24th, and the council intends to appoint committee members at its regular meeting on Tuesday, July 25th.
