BELLINGHAM, WA – More information has been released regarding the car vs pedestrian crash on Samish Way earlier this week.
Bellingham Police Lt. Claudia Murphy says the pedestrian was walking along or across the road around 8:45 pm on Sunday.
The car was driving south on Samish Way and did not see the pedestrian because it was dark out.
The driver immediately stopped after striking the pedestrian and remained on scene.
Bellingham Fire Department Medics transported the injured man to PeaceHealth St Joseph’s Emergency Department
The pedestrian, identified as 85-year-old Gerald Saltzman of Seattle, died at the hospital the next day.
Police say drugs, alcohol or car speed were not contributing factors related to the driver in the collision.
