OLYMPIA, Wash. – The state DNR released a status report on Hilary Franz’s 2020 Climate Resilience Plan.

The update shows progress made and lays out future initiatives to hit other targets from the original plan.

Franz created the plan three years ago to map how the agency would address climate risks with climate action.

The DNR says a lot has changed since the original plan, citing increased frequency and severity of extreme weather events.

The update sets goals that include keeping 95% of wildfires under 10 acres, reforesting 1 million acres of forests and generating at least 500 megawatts of new solar power from state-owned lands.
