BELLINGHAM, WA. – (KGMI.com) Another popular Bellingham park was damaged last week after someone drove over its lawn.
Bellingham Parks Operations Manager Steve Janiszewski says the incident occurred at Lake Padden Park on the night of December 3rd.
A vehicle drove over the grass at the athletic field on the east side of the park and over the turf near the gates to the golf course.
Grounds crews will be making repairs over the next few months for what is estimated to be $3,000 to $4,000 in damage.
Janiszewski says the Parks Department is working to add fencing where the vandal entered the field to prevent future problems, as the area does not currently have a gate.
The damage follows a similar incident at Boulevard Park last month when someone drove over part of its lawn, forcing the city to close off that area until spring next year.
