BELLEVUE, Wash. – A convicted former owner of a medical testing company in Washington state is being sought by the FBI after failing to report to prison.

US Attorney Nick Brown said that Richard Reid was sentenced to two years of prison for profiting from an illegal kickback scheme facilitated by his company.

Northwest Physicians Laboratory, which was based in Bellevue, received over $3.7 million in kickback payments from the federal government through the scheme.

Reid had requested to move his prison reporting date several times, claiming he had COVID-19.

But a federal judge refused to let him delay his sentence past the end of April.

Since then, law enforcement officials have been unable to find Reid.

He had been living in Astoria, Oregon, and officials believe he could be in the Seattle area as well.

The FBI says that Reid may be armed.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact the FBI office in Seattle at (206) 622-0460.
