LUMMI ISLAND, Wash. – A recreational public dock is coming soon to Lummi Island.
The Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office announced the Lummi Island Community Association will receive over $103,000 for the project.
Right now, there are not any public docks or piers on the island.
Funding would cover site plans, designs, and initial construction costs for the new pier, gangway, and dock on the island’s Beach Access Site.
The new features will allow easier access for boating, fishing, and crabbing on the island.
It will also serve as another option for those travelling by boat in the event of a ferry outage.
A construction timeline for the new dock has not been announced.
