BELLINGHAM, WA – (KGMI.com) One of the men who caused a power outage that darkened thousands of Pierce County homes last Christmas has been sentenced.
Jeremy Crahan pleaded guilty in September to sabotaging power substations in an attempt to disable and rob ATM machines.
The Seattle U.S. Attorney’s Office says he and an accomplice cut power to 8000 utility customers when they broke into and damaged four substations on Dec. 25, 2022.
Despite their sweeping plan, the pair only got away with a small amount from a restaurant cash register while doing $235,000 in damage to power infrastructure.
Grahan will spend 18 months in prison under a plea deal.
His accomplice will be sentenced in January.
