FERNDALE, Wash. – A former teller accused of a 2015 bank robbery in Ferndale has been found not guilty.
A jury acquitted Donna Brown last week of 1st degree theft charges.
Court records state that officers were dispatched to the Ferndale Key Bank on December 10th, 2015, to a report of a robbery with a possible hostage.
Brown reported that a male interrupted her call with a client and said he was pointing a gun at the branch manager.
The male voice allegedly told Brown to deliver money from the bank vault to a nearby remote location and she complied.
Investigators later found an empty box at the location on Hovander Road.
Brown was booked into Whatcom County Jail eight days later and was accused of stealing over $30,000 in cash, though she was released later that day.
Her trial began nearly eight years later on August 29th and a jury acquitted her on September 8th.
