OLYMPIA, WA – Governor Inslee and other state officials are facing a lawsuit that claims a new law meant to protect transgender youth actually sanctions “state-sponsored kidnapping.”

KOMO reports that the lawsuit, filed on Wednesday by American First Legal, a conservative watchdog group, accuses Inslee of forced child mutilation.

The law in question, SB 5599, allows shelters to refrain from contacting a runaway child’s parents under certain circumstances.

Those include children seeking reproductive health or gender-affirming medical services.

State Attorney General Bob Ferguson and Ross Hunter, the Secretary of the state’s Dept of Children, Youth, and Families, are also listed in the lawsuit.

American First legal is led by Stephen Miller, a former advisor to President Trump.
