GLACIER, WA. – (KGMI.com) A stranded hiker was recently rescued from wintry conditions near Mount Baker.
The Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office says that the hiker had been camping near the Twin Lakes for a few days.
They called for help after struggling to navigate the mountain roads back to the Mount Baker Highway.
Search and Rescue teams were able to help the hiker chain up their vehicle and they were guided back to the roadway without incident.
The Sheriff’s office noted that the hiker was well prepared to stay a few extra days in the snowy terrain, which also helped Search and Rescue crews develop a strategy to bring them to safety.
