ROSS LAKE, WA. – (KGMI.com) The contents of a suitcase found in Ross Lake last year have been confirmed to be human remains.
Royal Canadian Mounted Police spokesperson Kris Clark says the victim was identified and determined to be a resident of Canada.
The Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office was notified of the discovery on October 12th.
Two local citizens had reportedly found human remains in the suitcase while fishing in the Ross Lake National Recreation Area.
Detectives have since interviewed the fishermen who found the suitcase.
Clark says the RCMP will continue to work with the Sheriff’s Office to investigate the case and clarify the circumstances that led to the suitcase’s recovery.
No additional details, including the victim’s identify, are being released at this time.
